The Client

Nutshell was a brand new car insurance brand, created to make car cover less complicated. It is aimed at younger car drivers wanting to make sure they are covered, with minimal fuss. It takes a disruptive approach to the motor insurance genre – making bold statements like ‘car insurance is absolute nonsense.’

The Brief

We were invited to develop a new brand identity and creative direction for Nutshell. The brand needed to reflect the core simplicity of the product offering, while lending itself to good standout with the target audience. Social media would be a core channel for the new brand.

The Result

Following creative workshops, a variety of brand options, the creation of animated explainers and a social media campaigns, we delivered a vibrant range of materials to launch the new brand and build credibility and recognition.

What We Did

We held creative workshops with the organisation to explore the core brand principles, target customer and future direction of the product.

We then designed a variety of creative options for the brand logo and treatment via its various channels.

The successful design was a modern take on the idea of a nut cracking open, using a contemporary colour palette. The brand is brought to life online via an interactive animation, and an animated video sets out what the product is all about.

A series of social media designs followed a strategic approach to engaging Nutshell’s audience: stating the key points of difference, highlighting the benefits and then sharing a clear call to action.

Innovative Solution

Our approach combined strategic brand thinking with creative simplicity. By centring the visual identity around a single, clear idea — the nutshell opening — we created a distinctive and memorable brand that immediately conveyed clarity and ease.

We didn’t stop at design. The brand was activated through thoughtful motion and messaging, with interactive and animated content that added energy and helped explain the product in an engaging, accessible way.

The phased social strategy ensured that messaging followed a logical journey for the audience. From raising awareness to prompting action, each piece of content served a specific purpose, helping Nutshell build familiarity, credibility, and conversion in a highly competitive market.
