How Are You
“Community Mental Health Platform.”
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are both key providers of mental health and community care services in their regions. With a shared commitment to improving access to local wellbeing support, they partnered with Speed to deliver a digital platform that could connect residents to local activities, groups, and resources, helping to promote mental health through social prescribing and community engagement.

Speed were initially commissioned by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust to create a digital platform that could centralise local support services and activities across the county. The goal was to improve visibility of community-based mental health support and enable better social prescribing outcomes for residents.
Following the success of the “How Are You” (H.A.Y.) platforms in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, NHS Lincolnshire approached Speed to support the rollout of a regionally tailored version of the site, expanding the reach of the initiative.

We developed a scalable WordPress multisite setup to support multiple localities while maintaining a consistent design language and user experience across each region. This approach enabled each site to present tailored content to its audience while benefiting from a shared backend architecture.
The Lincolnshire site, however, required a slightly more bespoke implementation. To meet their needs, we created a standalone WordPress instance, giving them the flexibility to manage a more specific user journey and content structure.

We built the platform using WordPress, chosen for its simplicity, flexibility, and scalability. For the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough sites, we implemented a multisite setup, allowing each region to manage its own content while maintaining a consistent design and backend infrastructure. For Lincolnshire, we created a standalone WordPress site to accommodate a more refined and bespoke user experience. The project also included responsive front-end development, user-centred UI/UX design, and a custom interactive map integration to ensure easy navigation and accessibility across all devices.
One of the key features was the interactive map integration, which provided a user-friendly way to display a high volume of local services and activities. This approach made the platform intuitive and actionable for users looking for mental health support via social prescribing, without overwhelming them.
