Health Alliance
“To boost health and wellbeing in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.”
The Voluntary Sector Network is a collaboration to boost the quality of life, health and wellbeing of people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The network brings together voluntary organisations, charities and social groups – each as equal partners – to connect and share resources. It brings services direct to the community in an inclusive, responsive and agile way.

The Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Health Alliance was launched in July 2022 as a way to forge direct links with key communities and vulnerable people. In 2024 it was seeking to rebrand to a new name.
The collaborative approached us to develop a new name and logo together with a new proposition and strapline. From there, we would create the new brand look and feel, develop brand guidelines and create promotional materials.

From a range of options, the Health Alliance agreed on its new name: The Voluntary Sector Network. We then fleshed out the brand proposition and new strapline: Together for healthier communities.
We devised a variety of logo options that stemmed from themes of health and wellness, collaboration, circularity and focus. Once agreed, we developed various treatments of the new logo and created brand guidelines, an explanatory leaflet and pull-up banner.

We were approached by the VCSE Health Alliance to support its rebrand as it entered a new phase of growth and visibility. The brief was to create a new name, visual identity, and brand proposition that could better reflect the alliance’s purpose and connect more clearly with the communities it serves.
We began by exploring a range of naming options, guided by themes of inclusion, clarity, and community impact. After discussion and stakeholder input, the organisation agreed on a new name, The Voluntary Sector Network, a clear and accessible title that reflects its collaborative nature and purpose.
With the name in place, we developed the brand proposition and strapline: Together for healthier communities. This line communicates the organisation’s goal of collective impact while maintaining a tone that is warm, inclusive and forward-looking.
Next, we explored a range of logo concepts based on ideas of wellness, unity, and focus. The final logo design was applied in various formats and settings, and supported with a set of brand guidelines to ensure consistent rollout. We also created a suite of promotional materials, including an explanatory leaflet and pull-up banner, to support outreach and engagement activities.
Our approach focused on simplicity, inclusivity, and clarity. The original name and identity lacked resonance beyond internal stakeholders, so we created a new brand that would be instantly understandable and meaningful to wider community groups, healthcare partners and the public.
The name Voluntary Sector Network balances professionalism with accessibility, while the strapline and visual identity work together to express the organisation’s mission and values. The logo system and supporting materials were built with flexibility in mind, making them easy to use across both formal settings and community-led initiatives.
By grounding the brand in shared purpose and using design to reinforce that message, we helped the organisation create a more unified voice — one that can grow and adapt with its evolving role in improving health outcomes across the region.
